NEW PROFESSIONAL We are delighted to welcome Martin O’Connor, our new PGA Professional. Martin joined Chester Golf Club as a junior in 1996 and enjoyed some successful golf before deciding to undertake the PGA National Diploma in 2002. Having completed his PGA qualification in 2005 at De Vere Carden Park with a distinction in golf coaching, Martin moved on to teach full time at the Three Hammers Golf Complex in Wolverhampton before returning to the area. Martin has won twice within the PGA North Region including the Virgin Atlantic National Pro Am Qualifier in 2009. He has also progressed to final qualifying for the Open Championship in 2007 and 2010. A keen and enthusiastic coach, Martin has been coaching all levels of golf as well as running sessions in primary schools and looks forward to using his knowledge to help members of Vicars Cross improve and enjoy their game! MEETING WITH MEMBERS
Held on Tuesday, 15th November 2011 at 7.30p.m.
It was announced at the Meeting with Members that, although inflation is running at 5%, the Board do not propose to increase subscriptions for 2012 (except for an increase imposed by the EGU (£1) and the EWGA (40p). It is the Board’s view that “we must match the austerity that many of our members face by avoiding any increase in the subscription”.
To encourage members to bring guests to Vicars Cross it has been agreed to give each playing member 3 vouchers to bring a guest for the reduced greenfee rate of £7.50. Vouchers will be issued when members pay their 2012 annual subscription.
The incentive for introducing a new Full member is also to be increased from the 1st January to £100 (£50 payable when the new member pays their 2012 subscription and £50 on renewal of their subscription in 2013). Please note that the funds are only payable to the “Proposer” and are paid onto their bar account.
